In the final days of August, as part of the 2025 National and International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, the Department of Agriculture – Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (DA-4K) Program, in partnership with the Research Division, turned over 3,000 coffee planting materials to the Kababayenhan Alang sa Malamboong Panginabuhian (KAMAANAN), a women’s Indigenous Peoples organization in Lanuza, Surigao del Sur.
More than a simple distribution, this turnover symbolizes a new beginning — empowering Indigenous women to build sustainable livelihoods through coffee production while enriching and preserving their culture and heritage.
Though August has come to a close, we carry with us the inspiration and message of unity, resilience, and hope from our Indigenous Peoples. Together, let us continue to uplift Indigenous women — the pillars of their communities and guardians of the future.
