The Department of Agriculture-Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K Program) Central Visayas, conducted a Specialized Training on Corn and Cassava Production and Management on May 20-21, 2025 to the Cabatuanan Hill Tribe Association Inc. (CHTAI) who are part of the Bukidnon-Magahat Indigenous Cultural Community at Brgy. Cabatuanan, Basay, Negros Oriental.
Local Farmers of CHTAI often face the significant hurdles of fluctuating crop yields, limited access to advanced farming techniques, and the unpredictable nature of market demand for their corn and cassava harvests. To empower them, intensive specialized training focused on corn and cassava production and management was done. Farmers had their hands-on cassava planting in the field, alongside in-depth sessions on pest management, soil health, and efficient harvesting techniques. With improved knowledge and abilities, farmers are now prepared to adopt methods that should result in healthier crops and noticeably higher yields. This initiative not only improves farmers’ confidence but also promotes greater income and vibrant years ahead.
