𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃: The Department of Agriculture – Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program conducted a workshop on Budget Execution Documents (BEDs) for FY 2025 and Plan and Budget Preparation for FY 2026 from September 16 to 20 at Crosswinds Resort Suites, Tagaytay City, Cavite.

The workshop aimed to provide direction and ensure that the financial plans for FY 2025 and 2026 are aligned with the strategic objectives and timelines of the DA 4K Program. It guarantees that all plans support sustainable agri-fisheries development in the Ancestral Domains, fostering long-term economic growth and improved livelihoods for Indigenous communities.

The 4K National Program Management Office invited panelists from the Central Office to assist and guide the regions in creating and developing comprehensive and effective budgets. Panelists included Mr. Eugene Piga Jr. and Mr. Gabriel Lubudahon from the Office of the Secretary; Undersecretary for Operations, Mr. Rodolfo Panganiban; Ms. Dakila Mae Cobacha and Ms. Ma. Lourdes Irish Irianne Tuazon from the Planning and Programming Division; and Ms. Evelyn Valeriano and Ms. Kathlyn Arenas from the Special Projects Coordination and Management Assistance Division. Their insights and inputs were crucial in ensuring that all budgets and intervention activities were sufficiently funded and executed on schedule, delivering timely benefits to the target Indigenous communities.

On the first day of the workshop, Mr. Noel Dato from the Accounting Division highlighted key points for preparing the BEDs and planning budgets. The following day, each region presented their BEDs for FY 2025 for assessment, facilitating precise tracking and allocation of financial resources. The next session focused on the Plan and Budget Preparations for FY 2026, evaluating the appropriateness of the proposed budgets for the indigenous communities. Discussions also covered the physical and financial targets for the entire year and whether the proposed interventions and their budgets were suitable.

Discussions followed the presentations, where the panelists provided insights into its objectives and operations. These exchanges were informative, with panelists offering valuable suggestions and perspectives.

This workshop significantly strengthened all participants’ financial planning and budgeting skills, enhancing the program’s effectiveness.
