Site Validation for the Construction of Pump Engine Set

As part of the Department of Agriculture’s ongoing support for Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities under the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks) Program, a site validation activity was conducted on July 8, 2025, in Barangay San Jose Anyao, Catanauan, Quezon, for the proposed construction of a pump and engine set.

The validation was spearheaded by Mr. Angelo M. Din, Project Assistant III from the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) of DA-Region IV-A CALABARZON, who visited the proposed site to assess its suitability for the project implementation.

During the site visit, Mr. Din conducted a thorough inspection of the area to evaluate its technical feasibility, including access to a water source, terrain suitability, and the overall impact the project could have on local agricultural production. He also met and interviewed the identified project recipient, a member of the local IP community and one of the official beneficiaries under the 4Ks Program.

Mr. Din discussed the importance of the pump and engine set in improving irrigation access and boosting productivity, especially in remote or rainfed agricultural areas. He also emphasized the responsibilities of the recipient in terms of preparing the site, maintaining the equipment, and ensuring that it is used for its intended purpose—to support the livelihood and food security of their community.

The 4Ks Program aims to empower Indigenous Peoples through targeted agricultural support, infrastructure, and capacity-building interventions. This site validation activity is a key step in ensuring the relevance and sustainability of interventions being delivered to IP beneficiaries.
